If you were Jill Carroll and had guaranteed yourself seemingly unending media coverage by publishing a serialized account of your experience as a hostage in Iraq, wouldn't you do something about your hair?

She works for the Christian Science Monitor. She probably believes that whether her hair looks good or not is a reflection of God's will and shouldn't be tampered with.
(I know, the paper's not like that at all. Leave my small, prejudiced jokes be!)
